Östlind & Almquist, Arvika, parlor organ serial no. 1287 (c. 1895)
KH 390 (2007)

This art case organ, exquisitely well-worked with the double, facet cut mirror glasses, may have belonged to ’the daughter of the manufacturer, Ida’, probably Anders Nilsson’s oldest daughter Malvina (Ina), and been in her possession for a long time which may be part of the explanation why the organ is almost like factory new.
The size of the medals on the organ which were the usual way of pointing out production quality has been changed. This indicates that the instrument really was an exhibition organ and kept in the factory for some years. The model is also found on the writing-paper when the factory announced participating in the Stockholm Fair of 1897. It is described as an organ ‘with the most perfect resources that are made in reed organs.’

The instrument is shown in the 1896 catalogue where it is called ’parlor organ.’ It was made of ‘real walnut or ebony imitation’ with 10 sets of reeds, 5 octave, 13 sounding stops including so called ’pedal bass’, a self-playing pedal stop that ‘only gives the lowest note of all cords.’
